Wade's Family restaurant is partnering again with the Piedmont Interstate Fair by sponsoring the Decorate-A-Veggie Contest on Thursday, October 14. Children 1st through 6th grade are invited to participate by decorating the veggie of their choice and entering it in the contest by bringing their decorated veggie to the fair. Nearly 700 veggies were entered in the contest last year. Judges had a difficult time choosing winners from so many wonderful entries. The contest winners for 2009 are listed below along with pictures taken that night to give you an idea of the many creative entries we received. Click on items in Red to see pictures...

The school who had the most students enter veggies in the contest was Houston Elementary School. Houston had 225 entries in the Decorate A Veggie Contest. As the winning school, Houston was awarded a check from Wade's for $200 to be used in their Art Department. This check was presented to their principal, Tommy Stokes.

The winning classroom (having the most entries in the contest) was also from Houston Elementary. A lunch at Wade's was awarded to Julie Jones' 5th grade class. They visited Wade's for lunch in our Express Dining Room on Thursday, November 5. The group enjoyed Turkey and Dressing, Fried Chicken, Hamburger Steak, their favorite veggies, yeast rolls, and ice cream sundaes.
